Hometown Students Return to US From Three Month Study Program in Israel
2010 Nov 18
On November 18, 2010, 45 students returned to the United States after a life-altering journey to Israel. Students at the American Hebrew Academy, the nation's premier Jewish boarding high school, located in Greensboro, North Carolina, have been in Israel for three months as participants of The Alexander Muss High School in Israel (AMHSI) program. Since its inception, the Academy has required the program as part of its Junior class curriculum, and the school is excited to welcome back its students from the program's 2010 installment. "We believe that the trip to Israel is among the most transformational aspects in development of spiritual identity and commitment to Israel," states Dr. Gary Grandon, the Academy's principal. For many years, community leaders and educators have searched for effective ways to foster Jewish identity in the young generation. Visits to Israel seem to be one of the strongest methods for achieving this goal, as countless waves of kids and young adults continue to be heavily impacted by their experiences there on various programs.
